Born in Mirfield, near Dewsbury, the Hollywood star receives his award in recognition of his contribution to the stage, film and television industry.

Best known for his role as Captain Jean-Luc Picard in the television series and associated films Star Trek: The Next Generation, Patrick returned to Yorkshire this summer to perform in his one man show Shylock: Shakespeare’s Alien and JB Priestley’s Johnson Over Jordan, both at the West Yorkshire Playhouse.

This year, recognition for the film legend also came in the form of a CBE from Her Majesty the Queen and honorary degrees from the University of Bradford and Leeds Metropolitan University.

The award is sponsored by Black Sheep Brewery and was presented by Paul Theakston, managing Director of Black Sheep Brewery.
