Sporting Achievement Award 2017

Ryan Sidebottom

With a career spanning 20 years, Ryan Sidebottom can look back with immense pride at his achievements in cricket.

Playing a pivotal role in helping England with the T20 World Cup in 2010, he went on to become the only player in the last 15 years to win five country championships.

The Huddersfield-born swing bowler has amassed more than 1000 wickets during his trophy-laden 20-year career – plus a one day trophy in 2002 – and following his retirement he will now focus his attention on his Leeds-based cricket academy which nurtured young talent with professional coaching and his own foundation which offers free long-term sessions for disadvantaged kids across Yorkshire.
