Sir David Wootton

Winner Sir David Wootton presented by Canon Keith Madeley MBE, Chairman of the Yorkshire Society.

Sir David‎ Wootton was born at Odsal and lived in Bradford, and then Saltaire. He was Captain of Boats at Bradford Grammar School, from where he went on to study Classics and Law at Cambridge University. He qualified as a solicitor with the international law firm Allen & Overy, where he was a partner for 36 years. In 2005 he was elected an Alderman of the City of London, and served as Sheriff and in 2012 as the 684th Lord Mayor of London. He is now Chairman of Northern Ballet and a governor of Bradford GS.
